New members are always welcome. If you have never fenced before then our beginners' courses are the best way to get started and we run three or four courses during the year. These courses are also ideal refreshers if you are returning to fencing after a long break.
Each course comprises six lessons which take place during our normal club sessions. We will lend you all the equipment you need to get you started so there’s no big expense to bear while you’re learning as the use of club equipment is included in the course fee as is excellent training from our BFA and BAF qualified coaches.
Six Week Beginners' Course
Sunday 23rd February 2020
£60 per person. (This includes tuition fees + equipment hire)
Open to beginners aged 9 years and up
For further information and to book your place please e-mail us at
Once you have completed the beginners’ course then you can join in club sessions as a novice. Club sessions always include a warm up, and often a group lesson. You can also ask the coaches for a short lesson during the session and there is no extra charge for this.
If you have fenced in the past and would like to give it another try then you’ll find a warm welcome at Stowmarket. If it’s been a while since you last picked up a sword then you can come and see us for an assessment. We can then advise whether you can join in club sessions immediately or whether you would benefit from attending a beginners’ course.
We’re also pleased to see visiting fencers. You’ll need to be a member of British Fencing and should bring proof of membership with you.
